A Biosystems Approach to Industrial Patient Monitoring and Diagnostic Devices

Purpose

The impetus for this book was an invitation from editor Dr. John Enderle to contribute a mini-book, called a "Lecture", on any topic to his Synthesis Lectures Series on Biomedical Engineering. I decided to write a shorter version of my first textbook that is suitable for teaching biomedical engineering/bioengineering seniors, rather than second year graduate students. To make the text more accessible to undergraduates, the number of equations has been minimized, and the focus on medical device applications has been increased.

This book is intended as a supplemental textbook for a system theory course within the curriculum of a biomedical engineering/bioengineering undergraduate program. It may also be used as a reference book for industrial medical instrumentation.
